Pique In Depth

Exceptional Lighting Control and Efficiency

Pure, natural, luminous brightness makes us feel happier and more comfortable. However, when brightness is created by electric lighting systems for interior environments, it is essential that it be carefully controlled. Uncontrolled brightness creates glare which can have a detrimental effect on people in the space and can cause visual discomfort. MesoOptics® technology allows Pique™ to deliver the best possible combination of lighting control and brightness—with efficiencies that are up to 25% higher than many other recessed lighting products.

A Visible Difference

Before:

A typical recessed parabolic fixture offers decent glare control at some angles, but it creates a dark, cave-like environment with very harsh shadows and dark walls.

After:

Pique™ offers excellent glare control from all angles, and increases brightness levels throughout the space. This leads to softer shadows and a brighter space that is still visually comfortable.

Dramatically Reduced Energy Consumption

Lighting designers have traditionally designed to illuminance levels of 50 footcandles. To achieve this, most 2'x2' recessed lighting systems require two 40W TT5 lamps. Pique requires only a single 55W TT5 lamp to produce 50 footcandles, which translates into a 35% reduction in lighting-related energy costs.

Increasingly, however, spaces are being designed to LEED™ specifications and 35-40 footcandles is becoming the standard for many office environments. Through the use of Ledalite's revolutionary MesoOptics® technology, Pique™ enables the design of spaces with soft, uniform, vertical brightness to create a bright, visually comfortable space—with a substantially reduced energy consumption.

Application Guide

Pique™ comes with a range of lamping options to suit a wide range of energy efficiency needs. This chart illustrates some of the options and their typical results.

Maintenance Made Easy

Pique™ is quick and easy to install and maintain. You can access both the lamp and ballast from below the ceiling without tools.

Push in the end corners
of the fixture where the
hinges are located.

Gently lower the door. The hinge system allows you to access the inside without having to step off
the ladder.

The door swings out and away providing easy access to the lamp and ballast compartment.
