For Immediate Release:
New sleek and sophisticated luminaire offers aesthetics, precision detailing and performance
March 3, 2009 (Vancouver, BC) – Ledalite has launched Float, an energy-efficient suspended luminaire that delivers just the right blend of sophistication and performance. Utilizing Ledalite's patented MesoOptics, Float provides all the benefits of visually-comfortable direct/indirect lighting without a louver and can be combined with innovative new Airwave wireless lighting control technology.
"We've been launching suspended luminaires for years; however, Float is truly a unique design with a personality of its own. Its smooth silkscreened luminance and seamless detailing speak for itself," said Tim Berman, President, Ledalite Architectural Products. "Float provides endless options for architects and designers by delivering the aesthetics with the performance using Ledalite's innovative MesoOptics nanotechnology, integrated Response Daylight Sensors and our new Airwave wireless controls technology," added Berman.
Airwave is a wireless, self-powered, battery-free solution that makes lighting and control systems more personal, flexible, energy-efficient and cost effective than ever before. The simple push of a wireless, battery-free light switch captures kinetic energy and allows Airwave-enabled light fixtures to be turned on/off or dimmed. Similarly, Airwave solar powered photosensors monitor ambient daylight levels and wirelessly signal luminaires to reduce output and save energy. When viewed from below, Float's entire lower surface consists of a high gloss silkscreened polycarbonate panel with a translucent optical window supporting a layer of MesoOptics film. Offering three optional distributions, designers can finesse the amount of downlight required for different visual tasks, while maintaining design continuity throughout the space.
Float's direct/indirect distribution enables wide row spacing thereby reducing the number of light fixtures required in a space. Float can deliver power densities as low as 0.72 W/ft2 with average light levels of 50 fc, creating just the right balance of performance, efficiency and aesthetics.
Ledalite has produced a range of materials to support the launch of Float. High resolution photography, product brochures, lighting applications and specification sheets are available online at www.ledalite.com/float/.
